Re-committing to health

I hadn’t realised how long it was since I last blogged until I came back to start again.

Time is an odd thing – as Gretchen Rubin said, ‘the days are long but the years are short’ and before you know it months have gone by.

I am not going to go in to why it’s been so long here, that is for another post one day when I’m feeling braver. I am just going to jump right in and start posting again as if I am just carrying on.

I am making a commitment to getting back to taking care of both my physical / spiritual / mental health again and I’m going to return to blogging that along the way. You could call it the holistic approach. The good news is the 5:2 diet works so well for me, I have maintained the weight loss of last year, so I haven’t lost a lot of the progress I made last year in that regard. I have just plateaued a bit. I think it is because I have maintained the weight loss that some other aspects of health have slipped a bit. But this is the year of proper fitness for me, that is the goal now. And given that I am married to a personal trainer you would think I can achieve that. It is a pity that just being married to him doesn’t yield results, I have to actually put the work in – dammit!

So here we go, starting with our latest health related purchase, our Nutri-Ninja. Yes we have got right on that bandwagon and I make no apologies for that.

The main reason is to use up all the wonderful fresh produce that gets delivered to us every Thursday, courtesy of Seasons Fruit and Veg. Here is a photo of this week’s box.

I love Thursdays when this arrives. However some weeks we don't get through everything, usually due to lack of time to cook properly, and it's such a shame and a waste to throw things away. So now anything that has seen slightly better days gets 'Ninja-ed'!

This was my breakfast this morning, the ‘Popeye’ smoothie:

Popeye Smoothie

This was made up of a kiwi, a stick of celery, a handful of spinach, 2 dates, some almond milk and ice.

It was great, and with a handful of cashew nuts, it made a great breakfast.

So here we go, back on the horse, so to speak! First blog post for months, DOMS from my KataCombat Fitness session and last week’s Power-Bag session with Mr L, FitBit back on and Pete’s Circuits class beckoning next week.

It’s going to be OK. Bring it on!
